Tile Shower Pan

Tile Shower pan installation can be designed to fit any size and shape, with any type of tile or stone. Generally smaller sized tiles are used in order to follow a 1/4" per foot slope to the floor drain. Here I show the begining to end of a tile shower pan installation. I use a unchlorinated polyurathane pan liner, an adjustable tile shower drain, 1/2" permabase cementicous backer board and dry pack 3to1 mortar. I always water test my pans to ensure no leaks are present in the liner and level out all walls to ensure slope is consistent in pan to allow water to drain most effectively.

Heated Tile Floors

Radiant Heated Tile Floors are an effective way to heat any room and give a nice warm feeling on your feet when your floor is warm, your feet are warm too. The sensation of comfort is caused by a combination of air temperature and radiant energy that equals the body’s energy needs. When you receive a greater amount of radiant energy, you will be equally comfortable at a lower air temperature. This lower air temperature will save you money on your energy bills. Energy experts calculate that you can easily save 25% of your heating costs with a radiant heating system. I use most frequently Mater Heat Radiant Heat Cables, they are easily installed to any room size without the high costs and long lead times of other custom fit heating pads. All come with a nice led display programmable thermostat. To install I lead wire to a dedicated power source in wall where thermostat is desired. Fasten wire straps to floor and weave wire throughout the floor to be covered. I spread a fully flexible self leveling compound let set and then return to feather another thin-bed mortar to fuller smooth out any high points. This additional step I have implemented to ensure all wires will meet contact with any size tiles. Mosaics especially need additional care to ensure a very smooth level surface will be provided for their installation.

Tile Software Design

Tile Design using layout designers ofers a very innovative way to aid in creating the disign that you would like to achieve. On all jobs big or small the correct design can seem at first difficult to achieve. I think that being able to visualize the design using computer aided software can illustrate the design that you have envisioned in your mind. The software can show you how if you remove walls and move elements around rooms what can fit as well as how well the space can be used. Even more specifically I have software that can show Tile layouts including the grout joints where tile cuts will be throught the entire area to be installed. There will be no question of where your design elements will be after the installation is complete, you will be able to see it before the work will even begin.

Materials

Underlayments

There are several different types of tile underlayments for all types of tile installations. Shown in this image is an example of using Schluter DITRA an uncoupling, waterproofing, vapor management and support/load distributing underlayment. Its design is unparallelled by any other substrate for its lightweight and multidinamic capabilities. The DITRA is thinsetted to a plywood substrate and tile installation is ready to begin. I use many different types of underlayments varying to each structure and the type of tile that is to be used. Ensuring that the very best installation will be completed.

In showers and wet areas I use Permabase, on floors I use the highest variety of tile underlayments, Schluter DITRA, 1/4" DensShield, Easy Mat, and other antifracture membranes like Red Gard.

Adhesives

Tile Adhesives come in several different varieties to suit all applications. From extreme exterior Installations where water and temperatures range through freezing to scorching hot, to consistent interior climates where less rigid adhesives are required. I prefer Laticrete brand adhesives their quality is one that I can rely will withstand the proper tests of time that the installation demands.

Grout

Grout adds the finishing touch to all tile installations. Its purpase is to fill all voids from joints left between tiles. Often the burden of cleaning I have a found a revolutionised grout that will maintain its color and outperforms all other sanded and non sanded grouts. Prism Groutis more dense providing more resistance to stains than standard cement grouts and cures quickly developing high early strength. Prism grout does not efflorece and its colors will remain consistent. The grout is also 30% lighter than other standard grouts placing less strain on the structure to which it will be installed. Sold in many fine colors sure to match any tile installation.

Miracle Sealants

Miracle Sealants are the only sealants I feel will completely seal and protect all tile and grout surfaces. They offer several different types of sealers both for stone and ceramic type tiles that will last longer than any other sealer. There are sealers that will not be seen after they are installed but will fully penetrate all pores in the tile and grout surfaces like 511 pourous plus and 511 impregnator filling pores blocking out water, stains, and bacteria from getting down beyond the surface. There are also Stone enhanceing sealers such as511 Seal and Enhancewhich give a slight sheen enhancing the color and rejuvenate the appearance of all natural stone installations.
